Takeaway owner admits cost of giving mistake
The owner of a takeaway restaurant has admitted he is “under stress” after pledging to offer everyone in Edinburgh a free pizza in January.
Marc Wilkinson, 55, of Pure Pizza in Morningside, came up with the plan to spread kindness and ease the cost of living crisis.
But it has proved much more popular than he thought when he publicised it with a BBC article at the start of the month.
He now thinks it will cost him triple the original estimate of £12,000, but says he is determined to see the pledge through. A Justgiving page he set up to ease the financial burden has so far raised £18,000.
