Cybersecurity company Sophos to lose 450 jobs
Cybersecurity company Sophos said it is cutting 450 jobs, about 10pc of its global workforce. The UK company, bought in 2020 by the private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $3.9bn (£3.2bn), said it has to reduce staff costs because of the slowing global economy.
The news comes after Microsoft said it will axe 10,000 jobs. However, the cybersecurity business is a fastgrowing one, with a workforce of 4.7m around the world, according to the International Information System Security Certification Consortium.
It said there is a need for 3.4m extra workers to fend off attacks from hackers operating from countries with no extradition deals, such as Russia. The Oxford company makes network security and anti-virus software.
