Dog walkers face stricter rules after fatal mauling
Dog walkers could be banned from taking out giant breeds with small pets, under plans considered by councillors in the beauty spot where a young woman was mauled to death.
Tandridge district council in Surrey is to produce a report containing steps “to both protect businesses engaged in dog walking, but also importantly, to enhance public safety”.
It comes after a 28-year-old woman, who has not been named, was killed by the dogs she was walking in an attack near Caterham, Surrey, last week. Eight dogs, including a Leonberger and two dachshunds, have been seized. The authority’s current dog walker limit is six animals.
