Fizzing sales for Chapel Down after premium push
Chapel Down sales grew by a tenth last year as drinkers bought more sparkling wine.
The Kent-based winemaker told shareholders that net sales revenue increased by 10pc to £15.6m in 2022, compared with the previous year.
The Nex-listed group said revenues from traditional sparkling wine rose by 53pc compared with 2021, after the drinks firm moved forward with its “premiumisation strategy”. It highlighted that sales in retail stores grew 9pc “despite a reduced availability of still wines following the challenging 2021 harvest”.
Revenues from hospitality venues rose 34pc year on year, after the end of Covid restrictions and the growing popularity of English sparkling wine.
