Robbed of opera

sir – On our annual visits to the Milton Keynes Theatre to see Glyndebourne productions, we sat in the upper circle.

Each time, we were surrounded by groups of children from local schools. They were always enthralled, and it was obvious from their reactions that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

How sad that they will not be able to do so again, with the cancelling of the Glyndebourne tours due to funding cuts (Letters, January 9).
