Top executives at Camelot to exit as Allwyn takes over

Camelot’s new owners are to part company with Sir Hugh Robertson and Nigel Railton as they prepare to take control of the National Lottery.

The chairman and chief executive of Camelot are to step down after overseeing a revival of the National Lottery that led to record returns being generated for good causes in recent years. Along with executive director Matt Ridsdale, they will resign once the sale to Allwyn is completed.

Allwyn, the gambling group owned by Czech billionaire Karel Komárek, was awarded the fourth National Lottery licence last year by the Gambling Commission. It means Allwyn will run the draw for 10 years from 2024. Camelot has run the lottery since its inception in 1994.
