Met Chief vows to stop Coronation disruption

Sir Mark Rowley has vowed to do all he can to prevent Just Stop Oil protesters disrupting the Coronation in May.

It comes after Alex De Koning, the group’s spokesman, refused to rule out any activity during the event.

Speaking to the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner said the group was planning a week of protest before the Coronation.

“Whether they intend to extend it into that I don’t know but that may or may not be true,” he said.

“We will do everything we can to make the Coronation the special moment it ought to be just as we did with her late Majesty’s funeral.”
