Dorries ‘did not consult’ watchdog over chat show
Nadine Dorries, the former culture secretary, has been accused by Parliament’s anti-corruption watchdog of breaking government rules by not consulting the body before taking a new job at Talktv.
Ms Dorries will host a Friday-night talk show, with Boris Johnson as her first guest next week. The Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (Acoba) said it was informed but only the day the first episode was set to air, which Lord Pickles, the chairman, said was insufficient time.
The committee will not take any further action.
The Cabinet Office is expected to respond to the letter in due course.
