Met’s £10k reward in hunt for aristocrat

- By Steve Bird

DETECTIVES are offering a £10,000 reward for information that helps trace a missing aristocrat, her sex offender partner and their baby after they were spotted at a port town.

Constance Marten, who is from a family with royal connections, and Mark Gordon, a convicted rapist, disappeared at the beginning of last month after she gave birth in the back of a car.

Police have become increasingly concerned for the newborn baby’s safety amid fears it is sleeping rough with its parents in a tent in freezing temperatures. Neither the mother nor the baby have received any medical attention.

The Metropolitan Police is now offering a £10,000 reward in the hope the public will be able to help find the trio.

It has emerged that the family were last spotted in Newhaven, East Sussex, on Sunday, Jan 8, after they were dropped off at the entrance to port in a taxi at 4.56am. They were seen carrying bags, containing a blue, two-man tent, sleeping bags and pillows purchased the day before from Argos in Whitechapel in east London.

Det Supt Lewis Basford said: “We continue to be extremely concerned about the health and wellbeing of the newborn baby, who has had no medical care and has been on the move, and possibly exposed to sub-zero temperatures.”
