Great War bomb found by novice detectorist
An unexploded First World War bomb was found by a group of novice metal detectorists who originally thought the device was a bottle.
Local schools and nurseries were shut in Invergordon in the Highlands, roads cordoned off and police and fire services called. Royal Navy explosives experts then removed the device to a military site for disposal.
Ryan Junor, who was detecting with his son and friends on a wartime training area when he found the bomb on Tuesday, had owned the detector for just three days. He was carrying the bomb around before uploading pictures to a Facebook group, where members alerted him to what it was.
