Water firm lets pregnant cows get free onto A25

-

Pregnant cows escaped from a field onto the A25 in Surrey when Thames Water cut a fence to fix a water main.

Manor Farm in Wotton said the water company did not advise them their boundary fence would be cut.

“Thames Water cut our cattle fence, made a huge gap and accessed a private field with no warning, then left the site with the cut fence unrepaired.

“So five in-calf cows walk through the gap onto A25. Irresponsible staff caused risk to others and to pregnant cows,” the farm tweeted.

Police were called, and the cows were rounded up without any injuries. Thames Water has apologised and said it would repair the fence.
