Boost for the Balkans

Construction on the Bulgarian section of the long-delayed gas pipeline between Bulgaria and neighbouring Serbia began yesterday near Kostinbrod, 12 miles from the capital Sofia. The Interconnector Bulgaria-serbia pipeline will boost the security of gas deliveries in the eastern Balkans following shortages caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The gas pipeline will stretch for 105 miles – 38 miles in Bulgaria and 67 miles in Serbia.
