Babel (2006)

This engrossing drama tells the stories of a handful of people, in Morocco, Japan, Mexico and America, who are all bound by a fateful shot fired by a Moroccan boy. It’s about the difficulties of communicating; alas, the film itself is communicated in a rather jumbled fashion. But the Tokyo sequence is excellent, and Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett provide much-needed star power.
