Khan’s Ulez cameras threat to rebel boroughs
Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has warned he will order Ulez cameras to be installed in eight rebel councils this month after they missed a deadline to agree to the expansion of the scheme.
In a letter to councils that have voiced their objections to the expansion, Transport for London said it was looking at powers to override plans to block the installation of cameras, and work to put them in place could start in the coming weeks.
TFL revealed that 16 of the 24 London boroughs that would come under the expansion had signed key agreements giving permission for cameras to be installed.
The eight remaining councils were given until the end of yesterday to sign the agreement.
