An alien pronunciation of Bowie’s surname

- Rory Mulvihill Naburn, North Yorkshire

SIR – As someone whose teens coincided with the rise of the Starman to stardom (“Bowie archive of 80,000 treasures given to V&A”, report, February 23), and in common with all my school contemporaries, I have always pronounced the first syllable of David Bowie’s surname to rhyme with cow rather than low.i still scream a correction at the TV and radio whenever the now ubiquitous and “incorrect” version is used. The most recent round of publicity has left me hoarse.
