Snapchat unveils new AI chatbot but warns of faults
Photo sharing app Snapchat is to introduce new features that use artificial intelligence – while warning users that its chatbot was “prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything”.
The new chatbot, named My AI, is an “experimental feature” that uses Openai’s CHATGPT technology, Snapchat’s owner Snap announced yesterday. The company said: “My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku.”
However, the company apologised for the chatbot’s “many deficiencies” and warned users against sharing secrets or relying on it for advice. It is available to Snapchat Plus members.
