PSG football boss investigated for alleged torture of man over ‘sex tapes’
THE Qatari president of Paris Saintgermain football club is under investigation in France over the alleged kidnapping and torture of a man who claimed to possess compromising documents and sex tapes of him.
Three Paris judges will look into allegations that Nasser el-khelaifi oversaw the detention of Tayeb Benabderrahmane, a Franco-algerian lobbyist, while he was staying in Qatar in January 2020.
Mr Benabderrahmane filed a complaint with French authorities last summer, alleging that he was held for six months because he possessed what he claimed were “sensitive” documents.
According to France Inter, the lobbyist was in possession of a smartphone belonging to Mr Al-khelaïfi that he obtained from his butler, along with the documents and tapes.
It is alleged he had documents relating to the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, and the awarding of the 2026 and 2030 World Cup TV rights to bein Media, of which Mr Al-khelaifi is president. Mr Al-khelaïfi is accused of being the “sponsor” who carried out orders to kidnap, detain and torture. Mr Al-khelaifi has denied the allegations.
