Top of the knots
sir – I don’t agree that a gentleman should always tie a Windsor knot (Letters, February 27). This is best left to Russian politicians. A half Windsor is much to be preferred.

sir – The Windsor knot is passé. I employ an asymmetrical knot, which, far from looking like old rope, gives the tie a certain distinction, enhanced by a slight dent in the top where it meets the knot.

He should find out where Boris Johnson gets his.
