Navy seizes smuggled Iranian missiles in raid
The Royal Navy seized Iranian anti-tank missiles in a helicopter raid earlier this month, working with the US to intercept the smuggling vessel.
On Feb 23, the Royal Navy ship HMS Lancaster seized the weapons from a vessel travelling south from Iran at night during a routine patrol.
Initial inspections of the packages suggested they included anti-tank guided missiles and medium-range ballistic missile parts. The United Nations were informed of the seizure.
Ben Wallace, the Defence Secretary, said: “This seizure supports our commitment to uphold international law and tackle activity that threatens peace and security around the world.”
