Pyrex dishes ‘safer for heating meals’

-

Scientists believe consumers should revert to the 1950s preference for Pyrex rather than using plastic containers to heat up meals.

Microwave meals and bottled water should be avoided, researchers have advised, following a study that found microplastic particles may be able to penetrate into the brain, lungs and heart of unborn children.

Dr Luisa Campagnolo, of the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy, said: “I think we should avoid whatever is disposable, whatever is in contact with food, such as using plastic containers in the microwave oven.

“We should go back to glass.”
