Killer grandson cleared of restaurateur’s murder
A teenage cannabis user who stabbed his grandmother to death in her bath has been cleared of her murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Pietro Addis, 19, who was a heavy cannabis user, killed Sue Addis, 69, a restaurateur, at her home in Brighton, where he also lived, during the second lockdown in January 2021.
Addis, who admitted manslaughter, was cleared of murder at a trial at Lewes Crown Court on the grounds of diminished responsibility. He will be sentenced for manslaughter on May 5. The court was told Mrs Addis had been trying to seek help for her grandson’s deteriorating mental health before her death.
