Police investigating as Corpus Clock smashed
Cambridge University’s Corpus Clock, which alludes to the Big Bang, has been smashed, prompting a police investigation.
It was given to Corpus Christi College by its alumnus, Dr John C Taylor OBE, the inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
The clock was unveiled to the public in 2000 by a fellow graduate, the physicist Dr Stephen Hawking.
The face of the clock has no hands nor digital numbers but instead has three rings of LEDSS which show hours, minutes and seconds.
It is plated in pure gold. Despite its glass casing being smashed, the clock still works.
