Over 50s to be given student loans to upskill workforce

-

Adults up to the age of 60 will be offered part-time student maintenance loans as part of government plans to upskill the workforce.

Ministers are preparing to launch a new more flexible student finance system that will give adult learners a loan entitlement of up to four years of tuition for both full and part-time study.

A Department for Education spokesman said the new system, called the Lifelong Loan Entitlement, will be “like a flexitravel card”. It will launch in 2025.
