Heads warn pupils over Tiktok school protests

- By Telegraph Reporters

PUPILS who take part in “unacceptable” school protests fuelled by a Tiktok trend are likely to face disciplinary action, a head teachers’ union has warned.

Pupils have posted “abusive” material online about staff and displayed “disorderly behaviour” during school protests, Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders said. The union has received “a number of reports” about protests across the country in the past 10 days, mostly linked to rules about uniforms or toilet use.

“This appears to have spread through students posting material on Tiktok leading to copycat protests,” said Mr Barton who added that he will take the matter up with Tiktok directly.

“The material posted online is sometimes abusive about named members of staff and involves disorderly student behaviour,” he added.
