Sex education
sir – The article (March 4) regarding sex education in schools makes fearful reading. Since when have activists with a specific agenda been allowed to influence the curriculum?
Similarly, teaching “relationships” to children too young to understand the complexities, which teachers may often not understand themselves, is harmful.
Let children have a childhood. They will enter the adult world soon enough.

sir – My 13-year-old grandson came home from school last week very disturbed by a whole day’s teaching on sex. Topics included oral sex and sexually transmitted diseases, with apparently graphic photographs of affected male and female genitalia. Fortunately we were able to discuss this openly and calmly, but he still had nightmares that night.
We should be ashamed that this is happening on our watch.
