Starmer discussed job with Gray ‘for months’
Rachel Reeves has revealed that Sir Keir Starmer had been conversing with Sue Gray and others about his chief of staff job for “several months”.
The shadow chancellor insisted there were no conversations between Sir Keir and Ms Gray while she was undertaking her inquiry into Downing Street lockdown parties. However, she said: “We have been looking now for a chief of staff for several months and Keir has been having conversations with a number of people, including Sue Gray, during that time period.”
Ms Gray resigned last week as second permanent secretary at the Cabinet Office and is set to become chief of staff to the Labour leader.
