Parents must pay £600 to protect meeting

-

Parents planning a meeting to discuss trans ideology in Scottish schools have been told they must pay a £600 security bill after opponents attempted to close down their event.

Next week’s event at Edinburgh’s Portobello Library has been targeted by trans rights activists who have urged supporters to flood the councilrun facility with complaints in a bid to have it shut down and they are planning to picket the meeting.

“The council is unreasonably trying to hold us responsible for the maintenance of public order in the face of threats of disturbance if the meeting goes ahead,” said a spokesman.
