Bees act like humans to find out the latest buzz

-

Bees learn to pick up “trends” by watching other bees in the same way as humans, primates and birds, scientists have found.

Bumblebees learn from each other, allowing new behaviour to spread rapidly through a hive, scientists at Queen Mary University of London discovered through a series of experimental puzzles.

Dr Alice Bridges, the lead author, said: “Our research suggests that social learning may have had a greater influence on the evolution of this behaviour than previously imagined.”
