Hatching a plan

Volunteer Richard Fewlass checks a specimen at the Whitby Lobster Hatchery, a conservation project to protect the North Yorkshire town’s fishing heritage. It gets egg-bearing lobsters from local fisherfolk so that a hoped-for 100,000 hatchlings will be protected during the most vulnerable period of their life cycle before being released back to the sea.
