An article “Matt Hancock can threaten me all he wants, our nation’s children must never suffer this way again” (March, 2) said a Centre for Social Justice report found that as many as 100,000 children never went back to school after the pandemic. This was incorrect. The report stated that in total, in Autumn 2020, 93,514 pupils (more than 1 in 80 pupils) were severely absent. We are happy to correct the record.
