Honoured Johnsons

sir – Boris Johnson’s plan to give his father a knighthood makes me think of Harold Macmillan’s gift of a peerage to his wife’s lover, Bob Boothby.

It was widely seen as reflecting Supermac’s contempt for the honours system. Perhaps something similar, with a dash of Johnsonian humour, is happening here.
