Adapted from Delia Owens’s bestseller, this soppy North Carolina-set thriller failed to earn the critical plaudits of its source material. Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-jones plays Kya, a swamp-dwelling recluse who finds herself charged with the murder of an ex-lover (Harris Dickinson) and dragged into court. It was produced by Reese Witherspoon, while Taylor Swift provided theme song Carolina.
