London homebuyers pay £70k extra for a garden

-

House hunters are paying an average £38,000 extra to secure a home with a garden – rising to £70,000 in London, new figures reveal.

Property with outdoor space is attracting a premium as more people work at home, while others simply want a garden as they raise a family.

But a house with a garden now costs an average £38,000 more than the same kind of property without one and almost twice as much in London where there are more flats and fewer traditional homes with green space.

Market analysis by comparison site Getagent.co.uk calculated that homes with a garden command asking prices 12.9 per cent higher than those without.
