Cliff-edge home ‘needn’t have been bulldozed’

-

A home owner whose house was demolished by the council before it was lost to coastal erosion has said more should have been done to save it.

Sue, who did not give her surname, told the BBC that her home in Norfolk was demolished on Saturday, a day after she was told that it would be brought down following storms.

She said the house on the coast of Hemsby could have been moved inland instead but the move was not supported by the local council because she did not have planning permission. “You think in an emergency, it would be fair to have retrospective planning. There’s no argument or anything, they’re just demolishing,” she added.
