Payout for guard who misread alarm clock
A dyslexic security guard, who said he was late to work because he misread his alarm clock, has won a disability discrimination claim.
Raymond Joseph Bryce, from Stafford, West Midlands, who has dyslexia and Asperger’s, should have been given more flexible hours as his condition made it “difficult” for him to wake up early, plan ahead, and read the time, a judge at an employment tribunal in Nottingham ruled.
Mr Bryce’s claims have been upheld and he is in line for compensation.
His separate claim of direct disability discrimination was rejected. A further hearing will decide the amount of compensation he is owed.
