GARY GLITTER, the convicted paedophile, has been recalled to prison after breaking his licence rules only a month after being released.

The disgraced pop star, 78, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was recalled to jail on Monday after he was filmed apparently discussing the “dark web,” the online realm used by paedophiles. Prison officials decided to recall him after studying the video and his phone, where they discovered material that breached his licence conditions although is not thought to have been illegal. A source said: “The system has worked swiftly to protect the public and put Glitter back behind bars.”

A Probation Service spokesman said: “Protecting the public is our number one priority. That’s why we set tough licence conditions and when offenders breach them, we don’t hesitate to return them to custody.” Glitter was freed after serving half a 16-year term imposed in 2015 for sexually abusing girls aged under 13 during the 1970s and 1980s. He was previously jailed in 1999 over child abuse images found on his computer.
