Jet garages to be hit by fuel tank drivers in strike over pay

-

Jet garages across England and Scotland face disruption after fuel tank drivers agreed to strike over pay.

More than 40 drivers employed by JW Suckling, and Hoyer Gas and Petroleum Logistics will begin industrial action later this month, trade union Unite said yesterday.

The workers say they are paid £5 an hour less than drivers employed by other hauliers on the same contract to supply Jet. An initial week-long strike will begin on March 27.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “There is no reason on earth why some hauliers can afford to pay a fair higher rate than others.

“This is all about the companies involved boosting their profits at the expense of workers.”
