Judge clears four M25 Insulate Britain activists
Four Insulate Britain protesters who disrupted traffic on the M25 have been cleared of a criminal offence as the judge said convicting them would not be “proportionate”.
Venetia Carter, Dr Diana Warner, Stephen Gower and Susan Hagley were cleared of wilful obstruction of the highway after they and dozens of other campaigners targeted the motorway at 7.57am on Sep 21 2021. District Judge Amanda Kelly, sitting at Horsham magistrates’ court, said: “This was a relatively short protest in respect of an issue of considerable importance for four individuals. I find the prosecution has failed to make me sure a criminal conviction would be proportionate.”
