Headache Retirement shuts surgery
Sunfield Medical Centre in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, will close at the end of the month when the GP who owns it retires.
More than 4,000 patients have been told they will be transferred to another practice, more than a mile-and-a-half away.
NHS officials have admitted bus services in the area are ‘‘not great” and have suggested anyone who struggles to make the journey asks local councillors to “try and sort this”.
Another GP practice could not take over the surgery, officials said, because it was designed as a residential property and was, therefore, unable to deliver “modern and accessible healthcare services”.
