Rule out ‘NO DEAL’ Brexit

- By Tommy Sheppard MP

dreadful deal over the line. As one commentator tweeted recently, the UK is like a plane circling and circling the runway while the fuel gauge dips closer to zero.

The Prime Minister promised us that she would listen to Parliament after her deal suffered the biggest defeat in Westminster’s history. After meeting with my colleague Ian Blackford and others however it’s clear that THE Prime Minister is playing a very dangerous game with high stakes for all our futures. Her ploy is to run down the time remaining until the March deadline.

She hopes that the prospect of a catastrophic ‘No Deal’ Brexit will scare enough of her own rebel backbenchers, Labour waverers and the DUP to take her these were again empty words and it is the same failed package she will bring back to the House of Commons.

But the choice between no deal and May’s bad deal is a false one – this weak Prime Minister’s plan is to blackmail MPs because she is incapable of negotiation and compromise. She must now end the impasse, extend Article 50 and give people the chance to reject this disastrous Brexit altogether.

Scotland did not vote for Brexit and we must not be dragged out of Europe by a Tory government we did not vote for. If the UK can’t be saved from that fate, we must consider again charting our own course and deciding whether we want to take our place among the independent nations of the European Union.
