ROBOTS
At the National Museum of Scotland
This new exhibition has been developed by the Science Museum London with a special Edinburgh add-on to show what they are up to at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics.
The exhibition explores 500 years of robot development from earliest automata to model day research labs.
You can see the latest humanoid robots in action. Inkha was once a reception- ist at King’s College London and answers questions and gives fashion advice. Robo Thespian performs vocal exercises and gives a theatrical performance. Zeno R25 replicates visitors’ facial expressions and ROSA moves its camera ‘eye’ and head to watch visitors as they move.
Dr Tacey Phillipson the Senior Curator said : “This fascinating exhibition explores the long history of our attempts to make robots which resemble and move like humans, from clockwork automata designed to amaze and entertain to cutting edge modes robots which can mimic our speech and movement.”
