UK sign Swiss deal
THE UK Government announced at the end of January that it has signed ‘the text of an agreement with Switzerland on the international carriage of passengers and goods by road’.
The government says
:”The agreement will ensure UK hauliers and commer- cial bus drivers can continue to drive to, from and through, Switzerland after the UK leaves the EU, as they do now. This is one of the positive steps the UK government is taking to maintain our relationship and cooperation with Switzerland as we exit the EU. These measures ensure the continuity of the effects of our currently existing international treaties.”
We just hope someone has realised that Switzerland is landlocked by the EU……
The UK hurtles towards 29 March and a promised exit from the EU. Meantime support for a People’s Vote is being encouraged, there are votes galore in Westminster, and nobody can give us a definitive answer on what will happen next month.
The Scottish Government’s ‘Brexit’ Minister Michael Russell uses straightforward language on Twitter at all times but has come into his own in recent months with Tweets like this:
“There. Is. No. #Brexit Opportunity… it is as mythic and made up as unicorns, magic beans , Hogwarts, Middle Earth or Liam Fox’s trade deals.”
