Island Verses is a new commission by up and coming, but already critically acclaimed, composer Peter Longworth. The piece is a combinatio­n of music and spoken word, featuring texts written by school students from the Scottish Isles exploring island life and sense of place, devised by Ron Butlin. At The Queen’s Hall on 3 March 2019 at 3.00pm.

Jessie Cave brings her tales of her recent break-up and the attempts to get her life back in order to Edinburgh will play Exile for the first time ever in public. The new piece, titled Island Verses, has been written specifical­ly to engage with young people on the Quartet’s tour of some of Scotland’s remotest islands. Through workshops with author Ron Butlin, students across Scotland will develop unique texts exploring their sense of island life and sense of place, which will be woven into the piece and performed, creating a unique performanc­e at every stage of the tour.
