SANA fishing for anglers to join up

- by Nigel Duncan

It’s an oft repeated question. What are the benefits of joining the Scottish Anglers National Association (SANA)?

The governing body for game angling in Scotland is focused on developing and encouraging participation for all and ensuring anglers have a voice. Archie Ferguson, a leading official, said there are activities for all ages and skill levels, including fun days. More experienced anglers can improve their skills or meet like-minded people and the organisation has instructors who will advise. He also said that SANA has a network of successful international angling teams: ladies, disabled, youth and stillwater, plus World and European teams. Migratory and Non-Migratory fish committee members advise and lobby government on issues including pollution, cormorant predation and the decline of wild salmon stocks. SANA were one of the driving forces behind the Scottish Government’s climbdown on rod licences for Scotland. It costs £30 for two rods in England. Mr Ferguson added: “By joining SANA, you will help to support and maintain this valuable resource.”
