Quintinshill remembered
On 22 May 1915 the Quintinshill railway disaster took place. Two hundred and sixteen officers and men from the 7th Battalion The Royal Scots, Leith Territorial Battalion, died at Gretna when their train crashed into a stationary local train. Minutes after the initial collision a northbound express train ploughed into the wreckage. Twelve railway staff and passengers also died. The memorial is in Rosebank Cemetery. An article will be pubished on our website on 22 May in commemoration.
