Planning notes

-

A planning application has been lodged to create a shared pedestrian and cycle path with new bridge crossings, access points and public open spaces and habitats at the link between Roseburn and the Union Canal at Roseburn Path. It incorporates something intriguingly called Jumbo Steps made of precast concrete and set in the grassed areas. There will be allotments included in the development by the council, as well as a revitalised playpark. It should be complete by 2021.

There is a new website where you can have your say on the proposals to turn 111 Princes Street (that's Debenhams to you and me) into a £50 million hotel led development. As it is not possible to hold face to face planning consultations, the developers have set up a website to allow anyone to view the proposals and offer support or other comment. This is a chance to make comment to Legal & General who are the owners of the site, but it is worth pointing out that they have not yet made a formal planning application to the council. The website will remain online until 8 October 2020.

Plans for a new 82 seater restaurant in Davidson's Mains High Street have been launched by a company called Pago which already has a restaurant in the capital. The family style eatery will take up the building previously used by RS McColl until they closed almost a year ago. There will be daily refuse collections from the rear of the building and a new kitchen ventilation system will discharge at the flat roof level to the rear.

Further development plans for the bottom of Dundas Street are in the pipeline, but not yet public. A Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) has been lodged for Centrum House and BUPA House (across the road from the former RBS building) to demolish it and put up residential, office, retail and café/restaurant in its place. There are no documents lodged to explain any more about the details of the PAN.

The two buildings were acquired last year for £10 million in a joint venture involving MacTaggart & Mickel, MacTaggart Family & Partners, Rennick Property and Millard Estates Limited.
