sussex GARDEN Restored
A 12-acre hillside garden in West Sussex has been restored in one of the biggest projects undertaken by the National Trust. The garden at Standen House, designed by accomplished gardener Margaret Beale, has been returned to how it looked in the 1920s. Generous legacies helped raise the £500,000 cost of the five-year restoration. An exhibition featuring the original documents used for the garden’s revival is on show in the house until 3 September.
