You featured Longthorne Gunmakers recently (Building British guns a different way, March issue). Speaking from personal experience, all I can say is that they are exceptional people to deal with. The customer care is exemplary and goes far beyond what you might expect. I have owned one of Longthorne’s Hesketh over-andunder sidelocks for almost four years. This gun has been a joy to own and use. It was serviced free of charge after 12 months and during the following three years has shot several thousand cartridges, both at game and clays, without any problems whatsoever.

Following the end of this past game season, I decided it was about

time to send it in for a service, which was completed.

Unfortunately, during transportation on its return to me, the fore-end was damaged. I contacted Longthorne and was told to return it to them. They made a brand new fore-end, which was sent to me along with one of their caps. They said there was no charge for the new fore-end, cap or even the carriage. Superb service. Thank you Longthorne.
