Twitter Fielders loved the September cover, celebrating 150 years of goldens. “Excellent cover this month. Bravo to the good folk at The Field for featuring a golden retriever,” enthused one. “An actual golden retriever as opposed to the blonde/ white puffballs,” added another. This picture, sent in by a reader, caused much amusement. “Having just read David Tomlinson’s excellent article, I thought I would confirm that golden retrievers ‘never fail to wallow in any water they can find,
and the muddier it is the happier they are’.”
