The 39th Annual GWCT Macnab Ball

-

THE 39th GWCT Annual London Macnab Ball was held at The Savoy Hotel, London, generously sponsored by Hunter Boots and Hull Cartridge. Three-hundred guests gathered for a fun-filled evening that began with a Louis Roederer Champagne reception and canapés, before seats were taken in the Ballroom for dinner.

Guests listened to David Ross, chairman of the Ball Committee, who spoke about the crucial work of the Trust, and watched a short film by the GWCT. A fantastic game dinner of pigeon followed by pheasant was served, while guests were diverted by magician Kieron The Mighty’s tricks. As partygoers took a tot of W&J Graham’s vintage port, Charlie Thomas of Bonhams took to the stage to conduct the live auction. Lots included: a day’s grouse shooting at Gunnerside; driven woodcock in Northern Ireland; and fabulous holidays in the Bahamas and on Mustique.

Following fierce competition in both the live and silent auctions, guests enjoyed the rest of the evening’s entertainment, where some of the country’s top guns battled it out in the Dryfire laser shooting booth and enthusiastically tore up the dancefloor. Martin Miller’s & Merchant’s Heart Gin Bar fuelled proceedings with jolly cocktails, alongside Hazelwood Whisky and Marourde Mead at the GWCT bar.

Close to £180,000 was raised, which will enable the Trust to continue its vital research into developing sympathetic ways of managing the countryside for the benefit of Britain’s game and wildlife. The GWCT extends its thanks to everyone who supported the event and the London Ball Committee for all their hard work.
